Glasswork, Sculpture
Medium - Glass
Styles - Decorative/Ornamental, Functional, Ornamental
About My Work:

I create one of a kind, hand made fused glass pieces that may be functional or decorative.  Most of my work is done as commissioned pieces, but I also participate in some art fairs and festivals.  For those interested in custom work, please note that I do not charge additional fees for design and collaboration on a piece suited to individual tastes.

A bit about fusing (in case you're curious):

Once a design has been created, pieces of fusible glass are hand cut using a glass cutter.  Rough edges are ground smooth to create a tight fit. Special glass is used which has been tested for compatibility so that different colors can be combined at temperatures between 1100 and 1500 degrees Fahrenheit.  If the glass is not compatible, the piece will break as it cools.  After the glass is cut, ground, and cleaned, it is placed in the kiln to be fused.  The glass may be fused together at high temperatures (around 1500F) or lower temperatures (1250 to 1350F), depending upon the desired outcome.

Pricing Information:
Work ranges from:

$25.00 for small plaques

$175 + for vases

$250 + for bowls

Sculpture prices vary based upon size and content.

Artist Statement/Bio:

Color excites and challenges me!  It is exhilarating to transform my vision of color and shape into an actual composition of fused glass. After 15 years of working in fabric art, I discovered fused glass in 2004 and found I was even better able to convey my love of color and design in the fused glass medium.  I believe I have just begun to skim the surface of fusing.  I plan to dig deeper, learn more, break some (more) glass, and continually experiment to expand my repertoire of kiln working techniques.  My greatest inspiration is my imagination.  A vision becomes my springboard for new design.  Abstract work, whether representative of a thought or feeling, or simply an abstraction of a common figure, allows me the freedom to create without boundaries.  For me, glass and color come together and provide a joyfully creative form of expression.

Education:

Mary Pamela (Pam) has been working with fused glass since 2004.  Pam has a background in business (Bachelor of Science, Tri-State University, Angola Indiana and Masters of Business Administration, Butler University, Indianapolis Indiana).Affiliations:

Awards:

Pam was juried into the Hoosier Salon annual exhibit in her first attempt (2006) and again in 2007 and 2009, receiving purchase awards for her sculptures in 2006 and 2009.  Pam has also received blue ribbons at the Indiana State Fair.
