Artist Statement/Bio:
"My images often arise from the memory of being in a particular place in nature. Sometimes an intimate observation of natural objects may be the catalyst for a painting. I often make large paintings with the intention of capturing the feeling of a place or the presence of nature through abstraction rather than the representation of a specific landscape. Impressions of weather, water, light are among the many elements that make up an image. During the process of painting I enjoy the slow discovery of unexpected color harmonies and the development of odd shapes and compositions. I see a random and beautiful quirkiness in how nature places things in the world and I enjoy making paintings in that same spirit."
