Patterns In Flight
wUG LAKU'S STUDIO & gARAGE
If Georgia O’Keefe had used butterflies as subject matter, this might be what they looked like. To paraphrase Ms. Steely - “The details of how wings open, a pattern manifesting where none existed, how the patterns foreshorten as the wings open, the way that light sometimes falls on the wings, creating a translucent glow, tightly cropped compositions that add to the sense of movement, and at times, rhythm, in the paintings; these paintings are not static butterflies, collected and mounted, but elusive creatures in flight.” Pleased join us for a reception with the artist, Rachel Steely, the evening of Friday, August 6, 6 - 10 p.m., as we celebrate the opening of her exhibition, Patterns In Flight .
