  • 1. Where can I go to view artwork locally?

    Visual Art Indianapolis Guide

    - Download the Visual Arts Indianapolis Guide to see a comprehensive listing of galleries, studios, and other spaces that showcase works by local artists. (Image quality in the downloadable verion has been reduced. For a full-resolution version pick up the printed piece at the Indianapolis Artsgarden or a participating gallery.)


    -  Use the Public Art Locator (PAL), a map of public art in Indianapolis created by local and international artists.


    - The first Friday of every month, many galleries and studio buildings across the city open for IDADA's First Friday Art Tours.  Here's a list of area gallery associations that have regular openings like First Friday:

    Broad Ripple Village Association (BRVA)
    Greater Greenwood Gallery Guild (G4)
    Hamilton County Artists' Association
    Indianapolis Downtown Artist & Dealers Association (IDADA)
    Zionsville Arts Initiative

  • 2. I'm new to buying art. When I am ready to purchase artwork, are there guidelines that show me how to do so?

    "Collecting Indy Art Made Easy:  A Guide for Beginners"   Created for first-time buyers, it'll have you gallery hopping in no time.

  • 3. My corporation wants to purchase local art for their offices. Where would I find information on how to begin?

    The "Buying Indy Art: A Guide for Businesses" is slated to be available Spring 2009.  Check back regularly for updates.

  • 4. Where should I go to learn more about buying local art?

    The Be Indypendent movement encourages residents, visitors, and businesses to support all things made in Indianapolis.    Visit www.BeIndypendent.org to learn more about this local movement.

  • 5. What is the Arts Council of Indianapolis' relationship with local artists and arts administrators?

    The Arts Council offers funding programs for individual artists and arts administrators as well as a growing array of artist services from professional development workshops to an online artist database.
